A minotaur tailor stands in his stone workshop, his massive hands turning a length of sheer cloth with surprising care. The painting plays warmth against expectation, a fearsome frame bent to patient, delicate work, lit by soft window light in rich blues and golds. Part of the Airistoll character collection. The original oil painting on canvas is available or a high-quality litho HD print. Luthen the Tailor

The Minotaur at the Old Gate

In Airistoll they still tell children that minotaurs are made for breaking things. Luthen has spent forty years proving otherwise.

His shop sits at the old gate of the city, where the morning light is best for matching thread. People come expecting a brute and find a bull in spectacles, turning a length of gossamer in his hands as gently as the fabric deserves. He remembers every coat he has ever made: the wedding coats, the funeral coats, the traveling coat an ambassador wore to broker a peace between two kingdoms.

Luthen keeps no patterns. He measures a person twice, once for the body and once for the life they mean to live in the cloth, and cuts nothing until he has both.
